Uprising

What would you do when you find out that you're family is dead? If your only purpose of working in a harsh condition was to help your family? That you have nobody else to trust now? Bella from Uprising is an Italian girl who came to America with Pietro, her far relative, to save her family. Pietro was the only person she trusted but now Pietro is gone and she finds out that her family is dead. She has no purpose of living but decides to live and work for herself. She is a worker at a shirtwaist factory, where she has no rights. When Bella is having a hard time, she finds out that there is a union of strikers who wants rights for every girl whether or not they're working in a shirtwaist factory. Bella decides to strike with other girls for their rights. I would've done the same, to show that even girls working in factories are people.
Bella could've made the decision to go back to her village, to work in the shirt waist factory, to get another job. But she made the decision to sacrifice herself in the cold picket line for every girl in the factory's right. When she stands in the cold air with her stomach grumbling, she has tears in her eyes. But she thinks back of how Signor Carlotti had always cheated her, when she hadn’t got her pay for being a minute late, when he set the clock back so she worked for ages, when she got ripped off for electricity, needles, threads, when she got charged for ripped shirtwaists when he ripped them himself. When she thinks of those, she wipes away her tears and strike. Bella is sacrificing her own life for other girl’s rights.
If I were Bella, I would’ve made the same decision. Bella decides to sacrifice herself. I would know that my life is half over without my family and Pietro. I would strike even harder, earn the right of girls at shirt waist factories and work even harder to pay the debt. Bella would’ve done the same, she is a nice, hardworking, brave girl who doesn’t only think about herself.

The main character in your book is moving to your town (this could be Jakarta or a town you know better) If they’re a child they could be coming to JIS. Will he or she fit in? Why or why not? How are his or her tastes different from – or the same as – those of your hometown?
James from The Recruit is admired by every kid in CHERUB, but would he fit in at JIS? He would likely be on a mission if he was in JIS because CHERUB agents are not allowed to enroll at other schools unless he/she quits CHERUB. CHERUB is a division of MI5 and is a school for teen spies. If he is on a mission, he will try and become friends with someone at the school. The friend of James might be a kid of a drug dealer, or a dangerous convict. I think James will fit into JIS.
James could fit into our school if he wanted to, but with his real personality, I think he'd get suspended easily. But even though he gets suspended or expelled, CHERUB does not go harsh on him since he is on a mission. When CHERUB agents are on a mission, they tend to use fake names. After the mission, they will destroy the fake names, fake DNA, fake fingerprints. So getting into a fight is no trouble for James and I bet he likes fighting because he always wins. He will like the kids at JIS but I don't think he will like Jakarta because of its humid weather. He had gone to basic training in Malaysia, and hated the weather with all those mosquitoes. Also because, it might be harder for him to get out of school during school time and go to the mall because of all the fences and security guards at every gate. He has skipped school a lot of times before he became a CHERUB agent and during missions. He had skipped schools during his second mission when he was trying to get close to Junior who liked skipping schools.
He’ll like PE and math the best. He's a human calculator so he can calculate anything in 3 seconds. It'd be easier for him in Math even though everybody uses calculators at school. He'll like PE because he's fit because of all the training in CHERUB. He is likely to get A's in PE and I bet he'll get less than 5 minutes in the mile run. The mile run is nothing for him because in CHERUB 10 kilometers is just warming up. CHERUB agents get punishment laps for not doing homework or causing a problem. But I don't think he'll run so fast in the mile because it'll make him suspicious during his mission. If he fails on his mission, it'll be harder for him to go to the next level of colored t-shirt because Mac, the chairman of CHERUB, won't trust him for the next mission. The color of t-shirt says which level you're on. Orange for guests, red for younger kids being educated, blue for trainees, gray when you qualify, after that, you can 'go dark' , meaning you get awarded the navy t-shirt than the black and the last one is white for staff. James was a gray but got a navy after his outstanding performance on his first mission. If he wants a black he has to do outstanding performances on his next missions.
It would be easy for him to fit in if he wants to because CHERUB agents can fit in well under any conditions. They are trained for this since when they go on missions, they have to fit in with the kids there.
